The ROBERTS Cool Shield thermal iron is a must-have for easily installing carpet like a pro. It quickly melts 3" wide heat-sealing tape, maintains a cooler top shield temperature, and minimizes heat transfer to the carpet to prevent damage to the carpet's original appearance. Even at the highest setting of 425°F, the patented Cool Shield technology reaches a maximum heat shield temperature of 256°F. Featuring an adjustable thermostat with a heating indicator light, this thermal soldering iron's "S"-shaped heating element provides even heating and longer heat retention. Features a double heat shield to minimize carpet warping (backing and face wire). The "comb-shaped" end on the soleplate forms ridges in the adhesive, providing stronger carpet joints. The top heat shield stays up to 175° cooler than the soleplate. The convenient 3-way cord adjustment keeps the 9 1/2' cord out of the way during installation.
