Crain - Looped Carpet Cutter

This cutter has a base that allows you to cut over a cushion or other mat that protects the material underneath. The blade holder is height adjustable so you can lock the beveled fence in the correct position to follow rows. The cutter is equipped with two pockets for the blades, on the left and right sides, and a large dial that tightens to lock the blades. For best results, cut WITH (across the direction of) the plush effect of the carpet. Starting at a starting point on the left side of the seam, cut with a blade down the left side of the cutter. Return to this same starting point on the right side of the carpet and cut with the blade down on the same (left) side of the cutter, going down the seam in the same direction. This procedure simulates the factory row spacing of most carpets. If necessary, to cut both edges as close to the tufts as possible, cut the right side of the seam with a blade lowered to the right side, then for the left side, retract the right blade and cut with the left blade lowered.
