Description

Schluter-DITRA-HEAT-E-HK are twisted pair heating cables designed to integrate with the DITRA-HEAT uncoupling membrane in interior heated floors. Important tips on selecting Schluter-DITRA-HEAT heating cables: Don't buy heating cables to cover the entire tiled surface: that will be too much! Very important: NEVER CUT OR MODIFY the heating cable. This would change its resistance and could damage it and cause overheating. The cable can also be arranged alternately at intervals of three, then two studs, in certain areas or for the entire floor. This practice can be used to increase the heating power (e.g.: on uninsulated subfloors or concrete below ground level) or to use a longer cable in a given area (e.g.: when the arrangement with three studs apart does not make it possible to respect the minimum spacing in relation to walls, partitions, etc.) An arrangement four studs apart is not recommended, as it could result in uneven temperature. Minimum distance from walls, partitions and fixed cabinets: 2" (50 mm). Minimum distance from heat sources (electric baseboard heaters, fireplaces, forced air heating systems, etc.): 8" (200 mm). Minimum distance from drains and forced air ducts: 4" (100 mm). Minimum distance from centerline of toilet drains: 7" (180 mm). NEVER run heating cables under vanities with no air gap underneath, bath platforms and freestanding bathtubs with no air gap underneath, or in kitchen cabinets and islands and other fixtures, or in small storage or clothing closets where the floor covering may continue. Excessive heat will build up in such enclosed spaces, which could cause overheating. NEVER pass the heating cable under or through a wall, partition or through a floor. NEVER install the connector (black plastic piece to join the cold wire and the gray heating cable) in a wall, as this could cause overheating, system failure or damage. The connector must be completely recessed under the floor covering, as explained in the heating cable installation instructions. It is helpful to provide a buffer zone because you cannot predict exactly where the heating cable will end. The buffer zone is a section where heating is not essential and which is not intended to accommodate cables, e.g. ex. behind a toilet or near a door opening. This area allows you to hide the excess heating cable. Heating cables can also be laid 6" (150 mm) from the walls to create the buffer zone. Testing of the heating cable must be carried out while it is still in its spool, as well as at two other subsequent stages during installation, to ensure cable quality and for warranty purposes. A megohmmeter is required to perform the insulation resistance test of heating cables. It is strongly recommended to perform the insulation resistance test. Please consult a qualified electrician before ordering DITRA-HEAT heating cables to choose the correct voltage cables for your installation.

  • The cables are inserted into the membrane, without attachment
  • It is not necessary to cover the cables with a self-leveling material, which greatly speeds up installation
  • Arise without return to the thermostat
  • Produce virtually zero electromagnetic fields
