The Schluter-DITRA and DITRA-XL membrane is specially designed for ceramic and natural stone tiles. It provides an uncoupling function that prevents cracking of the tiles and grout. Made of polyethylene, the DITRA and DITRA-XL membrane serves as a waterproofing layer that protects moisture-sensitive substrates such as plywood/OSB. The voids beneath the membrane allow excess moisture and vapor to escape from the substrate – otherwise the tiling could be damaged. The DITRA and DITRA-XL membrane performs all of these functions, in addition to adequately providing support and load distribution for the tiled covering.
