Sigma scoring wheels and spare parts: your tile cutter maintenance guide

In short: on a Sigma tile cutter, the part that wears is the scoring wheel. Each series has its own: 16 mm for the Series 4 Nex (14N or 14NT titanium), 12 mm for the Series 4 Up (14U or 14UT titanium) and 12 mm for the Tecnica, Standard and Series 3 (14A). The rest of the machine is built to last: Sigma describes the Series 4 Nex carriage as "wear-free". This guide lists the spare parts and accessories for each series, with their codes.

When should you change the scoring wheel?

Sigma does not publish a lifespan for its scoring wheels. In practice, these are the signs that it is time to replace it (advice from the Ceramed team):

  • the score line becomes irregular or broken;
  • you have to press harder than before to get a line;
  • the tile breaks beside the score line;
  • the wheel turns poorly or has play.

On the Series 4, a built-in compartment keeps a spare wheel at hand.

The 022V laser kit: installation and safety

The 022V positioning laser kit mounts on the whole Series 4, Nex and Up, which is designed to take it. It runs on 2 AA batteries, not included. From Sigma's assembly guide:

  1. Fully tighten the two screws with washers, then loosen them by 1/4 turn.
  2. Open the base pre-hole to 16 mm and the column pre-hole to 8 mm with the punch provided.
  3. Insert the button, plug in the connectors and fit the 2 AA batteries.
  4. Hook the lower tooth, then the upper teeth.
  5. Adjust the tilt to line up the laser line with the cutting line, then retighten the screws.

Safety: Sigma's assembly guide (Art. 022) classifies the laser as Class 3R. Never look directly into the beam, and never switch the laser on when it is removed from the tile cutter. Remove the batteries when you are not using it.

Cutting mosaic on a Series 4

The 64B2 non-slip magnetic mat (337 × 486 mm) fits the whole Series 4 for cutting mosaic. For the Nex, Sigma also offers the 64S kit for cutting LVT and SPC vinyl flooring up to 6 mm.
