This knife is used to trim excess weld rod from the joint area after cooling so that the joint area is flush with the rest of the floor. It is used in two stages with the No. 986 cutting guide. First, insert the cutting guide under the knife and cut through the bulk of the material in a first pass. Then, remove the cutting guide and make a second pass with the knife only. The fine cut of the second pass finishes flush with the surrounding floor. The knife comes with a protective pouch. The blade is resharpenable. The cutting guide is not included.
