This double-ended tool has a pointed end for cut piles and a wider tapered surface behind the point. On high cut piles, the narrow point penetrates deep into the row, while the wider tapered surface spreads the tufts. The opposite end is beveled and rounded to spread the loops of looped pile and Berber carpets without snagging them. This tool effectively opens and spreads rows to reduce shearing of the carpet pile by the seam cutter. Made of solid, nickel-plated steel.
