Mapeguard UM 35 [NA] is an uncoupling, crack isolation, waterproofing and vapor management membrane manufactured from high density polyethylene (HDPE) with a roughened surface and a polypropylene fabric backing. Mapeguard UM 35 [NA] is designed for the installation of ceramic and stone tiles, including over existing non-cushioned resilient floor coverings, ceramic tiles and stone tiles. It is designed to work on difficult substrates, such as young concrete and 3/4" (19mm) plain plywood subfloors with joist spacing up to 19.2" (49cm) on center. Suitable supports: Concrete | Young (green) concrete cured and capable of supporting tile installation traffic, as determined by the project design professional, construction manager or general contractor | Cement-based mortar beds, self-leveling underlays and leveling layers | Industry approved exterior grade plywood and APA SturdI-Floor OSB, Exposure 1 (interior, dry areas only). Plywood underlayments shall be Group 1 CC-plugged or better exterior grade plywood conforming to APA classification and US Product Standard PS 1-95 or CANPLY "SELECT" or (SEL-TF) rated exterior grade plywood conforming to CSA-0121 for Douglas Fir for direct bonding (interior, residential and light commercial floors and countertops in dry conditions only). | Existing ceramic or stone tiles (interior only) | Existing Vinyl Flooring - Vinyl Composition Tile (VCT), Gypsum Underlayment or Lightweight Concrete (When using Mapeguard UM 35 [NA] over gypsum-based patching or leveling compounds, refer to the Technical Bulletin entitled "Installing Tile Over Gypsum").
