Schluter-KERDI-DRAIN is a floor drain that connects to the KERDI waterproofing membrane or other load-bearing waterproof membranes. KERDI-DRAIN features a wide flange, to which the KERDI waterproofing membrane bonds to form a watertight connection on top of the tile assembly. The KERDI-DRAIN consists of a housing and a fully adjustable grate assembly or tile-mounting plate. The grate assembly accommodates a variety of tile thicknesses and can be adjusted laterally and tilted. Because the tile-mounting plate sits flush with the bonding flange, it can accommodate tiles of any thickness.
The standard KERDI-DRAIN connects directly to the waste line. The drain housing is made of ABS, PVC, or stainless steel. Plastic drain boxes feature a bonding flange covered with a non-woven fabric. They are available with standard 2" (50 mm) and 3" (75 mm) outlets and are connected to the pipework using a suitable adhesive. Stainless steel drain boxes are available with a standard 2" (50 mm) and 3" (75 mm) flangeless outlet and a 2" (50 mm) threaded outlet. The standard flangeless outlet connects to the pipe using a suitable flexible or mechanical coupling. The threaded outlets connect to the pipe using a sealant or tape. Because they allow for easy connection to a standard outlet, KERDI-DRAIN products are suitable for both new construction and renovation projects.
The KERDI-DRAIN adapter kit converts a conventional clamping ring drain to one with an integrated bonding flange. It features a stainless steel adapter ring with a rubber gasket and a variety of pre-drilled holes compatible with standard shower drains. The adapter ring replaces the clamping ring and attaches to the drain body using the clamping ring nuts. The watertight seal of this connection is achieved using a rubber gasket and Schluter-KERDI-FIX sealant/adhesive. The integrated bonding flange fits into the adapter's rubber gasket to create a watertight connection. KERDI-DRAIN adapter kits, available in 5-1/4" (133 mm) and 7-1/2" (191 mm) diameters, convert a conventional drain's clamping ring to one with an integrated bonding flange when replacing a clamping ring drain is difficult (for example, if it is stuck in the concrete slab). The adapter kits are suitable for both mortar-bed installations and those incorporating KERDI-SHOWER-T/-TS/-TT shower trays.
The KERDI-DRAIN grate assembly includes a frame, which adjusts to the thickness and arrangement of the ceramic or natural stone tiles using the height and lateral adjustment rings, and a grate or drain fitting cover that fits into the frame. The standard 4" (100 mm) grille assembly has a visible surface of approximately 1/8" (3 mm) when installed, and the grille-frame assembly is available in stainless steel in a raw, chrome, nickel, classic gold, antique gold, rose gold, or oil-rubbed bronze finish, or in anodized aluminum in brushed nickel, brushed copper, or brushed brass. The 4" (100 mm) STYLE grille assembly frame has minimal visible surface after installation and can be combined with three grille options: Floral (E), Curve (F), or Pure (G). STYLE grilles are available in brushed stainless steel in a raw, nickel, classic gold, antique gold, and rose gold finish, as well as in a range of textured colored aluminum finishes, including stone gray, cream, greige, bronze, matte black, and matte white. The 4" stainless steel tile backer is covered with KERDI membrane designed to accommodate ceramic or natural stone tiles, creating a virtually invisible drain. The 6" (150 mm) square or round stainless steel grate frame assemblies, which have a visible surface of approximately 3/16" (5 mm) once installed, can be combined with stainless steel grates or drain connection covers. Note that the grate assemblies included with the KERDI-DRAIN plastic model with 3" (75 mm) outlet and the residential adapter kit only offer vertical and tilt adjustment (no lateral adjustment).
Maintenance: KERDI-DRAIN, KERDI-DRAIN-H, KERDI-LINE, and SHOWERPROFILE-S/-R require no special care or maintenance and are resistant to mold and mildew. The grate can be removed to clean the drain or gutter and waste pipe.
Clean grates and profiles with a neutral cleaning agent. Avoid strong acids (e.g., hydrochloric or hydrofluoric acid) and alkaline cleaners (e.g., bleach, ammonia, chlorine). Do not use abrasive cleaners or tools. Even stainless steel requires periodic cleaning to help preserve its appearance and reduce the risk of corrosion. Stainless steel surfaces become shinier when cleaned with a chrome polish.
