Schluter-DILEX mortar bed movement joint profiles are designed to accommodate joint movement in tile assemblies installed in mortar beds (e.g., ceramic tile, natural stone, pavers, agglomerate tile). These profiles divide the tile surface into individual sections. They feature flexible central zones to accommodate movement. DILEX mortar bed movement joint profiles can also be inserted into saw cuts or wider joints during renovations. The remaining space between the tile and the profile must then be completely filled with grout or epoxy. The profile's sidewalls, made of rigid PVC, protect the edges of adjacent ceramic tiles from mechanical stress caused by heavy industrial traffic. However, in areas where heavy mechanical stress is expected, the limitations of PVC as a tile edge protector must be considered. Schluter-DILEX-MP can be adjusted to the thickness of the mortar bed and the tiled surface using DILEX-MPV extensions. The profile features a central movement zone made of flexible chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) that overlaps the recycled rigid PVC side walls by approximately 1/32" (1 mm), providing a more aesthetically pleasing exposed surface than the DILEX-MOP profile. Maintenance: The DILEX-MP profile requires no special care or maintenance and is resistant to mold and mildew. Clean the profile with a common household cleaning agent. Installation: 1. Select the profile based on the thickness of the assembly. For the DILEX-MP, attach the necessary extensions (-MPV). 2. Place the profile against the edge of the existing tile. Fully embed the side of the profile into the mortar. 3. Set the tiles flush with the top of the profile. The side of the profile must be fully embedded. 4. Completely fill the remaining space between the profile and the Grout or mortar covering. Note on joint repair: Properly prepare the joint width and depth and insert the profile into the joint. Fill the space between the profile and the tiles with grout, epoxy, or mortar.
