The wedi® Vapor 85 is a standard wedi® Building Panel whose vapour-exposed side is protected by the wedi® Subliner Dry membrane. That extra layer is what makes it the panel for steam rooms and continuous-use steam showers, where an ordinary panel is not enough.
The difference is not theoretical. Tested to ASTM E96 Procedure E as a complete assembly — with wedi® 620 joint sealant and Subliner Dry tape over seams and fastener points — the system achieves a permeance of 0.03 perm, well below the 0.5 perm threshold required for steam applications. It can therefore be used without an additional vapour retarder, in accordance with the TCNA Handbook (SR613 and SR614).

⚠️ PANEL ORIENTATION
The Vapor 85 is not symmetrical. The Subliner Dry-protected face must face the vapour side, meaning toward the inside of the steam room. A panel installed backwards loses its vapour barrier function.

Complies with ANSI A118.10, ANSI/TCNA A118.18 and ASTM C578. Certified ICC PMG 1189 for the United States and Canada, and compliant with the National Plumbing Code of Canada. Recognised in the TCNA Handbook.
INSTALLATION
Installs over wood or steel studs, or over a stable existing substrate, with wedi® screws and washers. Watertightness depends entirely on seam treatment: seal every seam and fastener point with 620 sealant and Subliner Dry tape. It is the complete assembly, not the panel alone, that reaches the 0.03 perm rating.
Store flat in original packaging, between 5 °C and 35 °C, protected from UV exposure.
