The 2 in. wedi® Building Panel is the thick version of the range. Same construction as the thin panels — closed-cell extruded polystyrene core, fibreglass mesh embedded in cement-resin coating on both faces — but its thickness gives it a structural rigidity that changes what it is for.
At this thickness the panel is built with rather than screwed on: shower benches, curbs, platforms, shelves and custom masonry elements. It is cut and assembled without framing, and the result is waterproof to the core as soon as it is put together. Its R-value of 8.6 also makes it an effective insulating board under tile.

STANDARDS
Tested to ANSI A118.10 (load-bearing, bonded waterproof membranes), ANSI/TCNA A118.18 (foam core backer boards) and ASTM C578.
INSTALLATION
Cut to the required dimensions and assemble with adhesive and wedi® screws and washers. Seal every seam and fastener point with wedi® Joint Sealant before tiling. Tiling can begin as soon as the sealant is dry to the touch.
