In short: to make an outside corner without a trim profile, you cut both tiles at a mitre, around 45°, and join them. Sigma offers three tools that mount on an angle grinder. The Jolly Edge (37A3PD) cuts mitres between 40° and 50° and shapes bullnose edges. The J-Pro (037B2D), preset at 46°, weighs only 3.8 kg. The Simple Bevel (36A5PD) makes bevels of variable angle and depth.

Jolly Edge: mitres and bullnose edges
The Jolly Edge cuts mitres at any angle between 40° and 50°, on tiles 5 to 20 mm thick and at least 30 cm long, in a single pass. Its shoe slides along the slab edge and follows its curves. In half-round mode, it shapes bullnose edges with a 6, 8 or 10 mm radius. According to Sigma, the VACUUM wheel lasts about 300 m and the LONG LIFE wheel (8 mm radius) about 1,000 m.
The 37C mounting kit locks the machine to a table to work small pieces such as baseboards. For wet cutting, add the WATERKIT 87E4.
J-Pro: the 46° mitre, light and ready to use
The J-Pro comes preset to cut at 46°. The shoe follows the slab's curvature, and you only set the distance between the blade and the edge. It cuts dry with dust extraction, or wet with the WATER-KIT 87E4. It clamps quickly onto the Sigma workbench for narrow pieces like baseboards. At 3.8 kg, it is easy to carry from one job site to the next.
Simple Bevel: precision bevels
The Simple Bevel makes precision bevels at variable angle and depth. Sigma's manual shows settings at 22°, 45° and 90°, and gives a few practical tips:
Tighten the velcro pad with a 6 mm wrench, then mount the grinder.
Insert the diamond wheel, centre it and press it in, then set the depth.
On a polished tile, tape the 12 cm where the machine slides to avoid scratches.
Thick tiles, up to 25 mm, with the Jolly Edge or J-Pro
Frequently asked questions
How do you make an outside tile corner without a trim profile?
Cut both tiles at a mitre, around 45°, so they meet on the edge. The Jolly Edge (40° to 50°) or the J-Pro (46°) make this cut in a single pass, on tiles 5 to 20 mm thick.
Can the Jolly Edge make bullnose edges?
Yes. In half-round mode, with the bullnose wheels, it shapes rounded edges with a 6, 8 or 10 mm radius.
Which grinder works with Sigma tools?
An angle grinder from 700 to 1,400 W. In Canada, choose the "PD" versions with a 5/8"-11 thread, such as the 37A3PD and the 36A5PD. The J-Pro 037B2D comes with a universal M14 adapter.
