Ultrabond ECO® 980 is a 100 % solids, one-component, moisture-cured urethane adhesive built for installing solid and engineered wood flooring, domestic and exotic species, bamboo included.
With no water and no solvent, it will not swell the wood — which makes it usable on sensitive species. Its trowel-ridge holdout is excellent: the ridges keep their shape, which gives the adhesive transfer the warranty depends on.
Mapei covers it with a lifetime bond performance warranty.
- 100 % solids — moisture-cured, no solvent added
- Lifetime bond performance warranty
- VOC content below 20 g/L (SCAQMD 1168)
- Low odour
- Formula based on rapidly renewable raw materials
- Excellent trowel-ridge holdout
- Works in mixed-media installations with ceramic tile and stone
- Tan colour
⚠️ Moisture limit — check before buying
ECO 980 must not be installed when the moisture vapour emission rate exceeds 5 lbs (MVER). It is not a moisture-control adhesive.
If the slab is above that limit, Ultrabond ECO 995 is the one to use: it handles up to 25 lbs MVER and 100 % relative humidity.
Do not apply over any adhesive residue, cutback included.
Can be used for
- Solid and engineered hardwood, any width and length
- Domestic and exotic species, bamboo
- Finger block parquet
- Acrylic-impregnated wood and laminated plank
- Reground rubber or cork underlayment
Coverage
30 to 55 sq ft per gallon for hardwood, 125 to 185 sq ft per gallon for rubber and cork underlayment, depending on the trowel used. Check the Mapei data sheet for the exact notch size by flooring thickness.
Meeting the coverage rate is a warranty condition. Insufficient adhesive transfer voids it.
