SikaLayer®-03 is a 3 mm (1/8 in.) polyethylene foam mat with symmetrical slots designed to receive adhesive. It is the acoustic component of the Sika® AcouBond® System, which bonds wood flooring directly to the slab while interposing a dampening layer.
The principle is simple, and that is the point: the mat is not glued to the substrate, it is simply rolled out. SikaBond®-52 adhesive is injected into the slots and bonds the flooring to the subfloor through the mat. You get a firm bond and acoustic decoupling in a single operation, without the labour a cork underlayment demands.

INSTALLATION
Roll the mat out over the prepared substrate with the slots perpendicular to the laying direction of the flooring. The mat is not bonded to the subfloor — a spot of adhesive is enough to stop it sliding if needed. Fill every slot with SikaBond®-52 using the 8 × 10 mm triangular nozzle, then lay the flooring.
One box of 20 SikaBond®-52 sausages covers exactly one roll, or 269 sq. ft. The substrate must be clean, dry, homogeneous and even, free of grease, dust and loose particles.
