The wedi® Fundo Primo shower base is the original base in the Fundo range: a pre-sloped, waterproof, ready-to-tile receptor supplied with its Click and Seal drain, factory-sealed and integrated. It replaces the traditional mortar bed and waterproofing membrane in a single piece.
Its extruded polystyrene core makes it insulating: it forms a thermal barrier that stops cold transferring through to the tiled surface and improves the performance of a radiant floor system. Neither a mortar bed nor a liquid membrane offers that.
The 48 × 60 in. format is among the most common in bathroom renovation, where it matches the footprint of a standard tub being replaced by a shower.

STANDARDS AND COMPLIANCE
Waterproofing and mold resistance verified to ANSI A118.10-2014 and ASTM E331. The drain complies with ASME A112.18.2 / CSA B125.2 and requires no weep holes. The base may be used in lieu of a CSA B45.5 / IAPMO Z124 plastic receptor or a traditional liner-based installation.
INSTALLATION
Bond the base to a flat, stable substrate with thin-set mortar, connect the drain, then seal the junctions with the walls using wedi® Joint Sealant.
Mortar and grout selection: for tile 2 × 2 in. (50.8 mm) and larger, use polymer-modified cement-based tile adhesive and grout. Below 2 × 2 in., modified thin-set is still required but the grout must be a 100 % solids epoxy.
